In 2007 I was asked by the House of Lords to create five paintings on canvas depicting tapestries that had been destroyed in the Great Fire of the Old Palace of Westminster in 1834. One had been painted earlier, in the 1850’s. I gathered together a team of artists and we set up a studio at Wrest Park in Bedfordshire. The paintings were completed in June 2010. We were wonderfully looked after by Malcolm Hay and the Curator’s Office at Portcullis House, making the whole project a pleasure from start to finish.
